Arms.... race?

From The Economist.

Umm.... does this picture look wrong to you?

I have heard an interesting commentary about this once. The US spends so much money on military, and no other nation can hope to catch up, that the total WORLDWIDE spending on military has fallen over the years.

While that's good for the world as a whole, this concentration of military skews geopolitics.

You've Been Voted Off the Island

I have substantially cleaned up the blog links on the right side of the page. Only active blogs are shown. By active I mean that the author has posted something in the year 2009. I figure if you have not written something in the last 2 1/2 months then the blog is not considered active.

Secondly, active blogs that have tight security restrictions on them have also been removed. I also figure that if you have security on your blogs you don't want random strangers going there any way. To help you with your security, I have removed the links.

For all you business travelers out there with multiple phones, you've got to check out the imminent Google Voice. The NY Times times article by David Pogue has me sold. This is so cool!

Recover Accidentally Deleted Photos (and more!)

There has been two times thus far that I have accidentally deleted the contents of pictures on my memory card before I downloaded them to my computer. Well, this is where Digital Assembly's Adroit Photorecovery software comes to the rescue. It purports to be able to assembly each of the pieces back together again.

Neat! I read about the product from NY Times. I'm going to have to give this product a try, just to prevent any fights about deleted photographs.

Let this be a lesson to anyone throwing data cards or hard disk drives away. Information (not just photographs) can be recovered from your cell phone, PDA, MP3 player, laptop, and desktop.
